History of the Vault Cellars in Rheinhessen:
In the middle of the 19th century the vault cellars were built as stables acording to the model of cloister refectories in Rheinhessen. Reason for it was the danger of fires in conventional stables.
For a long time the vault cellars were used as a starage. Then some winegrowers began to restore these buildings for setting up lovely wine taverns. Today many of these "cowchapels" are also used as rooms for culturelle events and concerts.
